Organization overview:

Founded in the philosophical works of the distinguished Prof. Richard Buckminster Fuller, original designer of Tokyo Tower (among many, many other things) the mission of the Tokyo Global Engineering Corporation (“TGEC”) is to apply currently accepted scientific principles to the design of projects that cannot be implemented until the emergence of a global state. Headquartered in the North Aoyama Ward of Tokyo, TGEC has “employees” around the world, with well-educated persons, such as university professors, as the organization’s advisors, and learners, such as university students, as the laborers. None are remunerated, nor do they feign unremunerative intent. TGEC has two divisions, and two corporate boards: the Operations Division and the Support Division, and the Board of Investors and the Board of Advisors. Within the Operations Division exist the following departments: Bioengineering, Nanoengineering, Civil Engineering, Space Engineering, Global Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Communication Engineering. Within the Support Division are the following bureaus: Art, Business Development, Communication, Diversity, Econometrics, Editing, Employment, Finance, General Counsel, Grants, Health, Information, Innovation, Knowledge, Networking, Philanthropy, Procurement, Reputation, Scheduling, Strategy, Threat Analysis, Translation, and Workforce Education.

Position overview:

This position is assigned to the TGEC Executive Secretariat. The Corporation is concerned with the avoidance of any impropriety. The Corporation maintains policies for corporate conduct applicable to all interaction regarding the advancement of the Corporation’s ability to perform global engineering. These policies closely mirror those of government regulations and requirements, and international treaties and agreements.


The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (“DCEO”) is responsible for the leadership of TGEC’s executive capability, maintenance of corporate policies, and oversight of their implementation. The DCEO also supports the CEO and serves as a principal advisory resource for the Board of Investors, Board of Advisors and the Corporation’s executives on matters pertaining to the Corporation. The DCEO is the Corporation’s focal point for interactions with governmental organizations on matters related to protocol. Primarily, the DCEO performs the following:

Leads planning and coordination of activities related to the Corporation’s mission and executive needs.

Leads independent evaluation of, and provides advice regarding, compliance by the Corporation’s employees with its policies, with national statutory requirements, and with international obligations.

Advises the CEO, President, and other members of the Corporation’s governance regarding the merit and implications of programmatic decisions involving risks to corporate objectives.

In coordination with relevant offices, leads interactions with governments, national academies, and advisory committees on executive matters.

Recommends and leads the preparation of new or revised corporate standards and directives in accordance with established processes and guidelines.

No travel is required; however, university students seeking internship placement in Tokyo have some options available to them, pending approval from universities assigning grades.

Key Requirements

• No long-distance travel will be required; however, travel to various organizations in and around Tokyo is required, the same as one would be expected to travel to a single workplace.
• Selectee must be enrolled at a university for academic credit, preferably in a business degree program


Candidates must possess broad business expertise. Must be a recognized subject-matter expert possessing (1) advanced knowledge of diplomatic protocol, its requirements, and its performance. This includes demonstrated expertise to form sound judgments and evaluations in considerably complex business situations; (2) demonstrated experience planning, executing, or overseeing elements of government programs of national significance. These elements include but are not limited to developing requirements, performing assessments, and preparing recommendations to leadership; and (3) demonstrated skills in business that resulted in win-win solutions during extremely difficult and complex multilateral discussions. This includes building coalitions among organizations to achieve common goals.

A. Degree: business, management, diplomacy, government, or political science that included twenty-four semester hours in these subjects.


B. Combination of education and experience: education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least included twenty-four semester hours in business, management, diplomacy, government, or political science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably an advanced degree in business, management, diplomacy, government, or political science that included twenty-four semester hours in specialized study of business, management, diplomacy, government, or political science.
